Job Description

Entity : Institute for Human Development Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, Sociology, Community Development or related social science Post graduate training in health research methodology is desirable Experience coordinating or supporting a research project Strong background in mixed methods research Demonstrated experience and skills in systematic review of literature Strong oral and academic writing skills Working knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative statistical software Can work under minimal supervision Excellent interpersonal skills Fluency in English and Kiswahili Keen desire to learn and share knowledge

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Responsibilities Contribute to a systematic review of literature on adolescent well-being Assist in the planning and implementation of community engagement activities for the project Assist in the implementation of research activities under the supervision of the Research Associate
  2. This will entail but not be limited to: Mobilization, recruitment and consenting of study participants, while working closely with the relevant government officials and community representatives at the study sites Ensure readiness of data collection tools and devices (translations, consents, recording, storage and safety) Coordinate data collection ensuring adherence to ethical procedures Organize the field team for data transcriptions, cleaning, coding Ensure proper documentation of all procedures and overall research process in coordination with Research Officer and the data manager Ensure proper storage of all records and raw data Ensuring appropriate back-up of study data is in place Support with basic data analysis for quantitative data and qualitative data Ensure documentation of field experiences using various formats for different audiences Work closely with the AKU communication team to ensure project activities are profiled through the different channels of communication targeting all key stakeholders including adolescents, parents, implementers and policy makers
