Job Description

The Social Worker will actively participate in the development of new methodologies and systems implementation, and will be in charge of the social intervention of every particular case. She will actively participate in the recovery and healing process of the survivors, individual assessment and direct the referral to other institutions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. E stablish contact with organizations and institutions that deal with women survivors of FGM and of GBV
2. Be the first contact for these women who need protection and evaluate every case
3. Coordinate the entrance and accommodation of beneficiaries in the shelter with the house manager
4. Create an intervention plan for each beneficiary
5. Follow up the situation of every beneficiary
6. Develop intervention protocols for different scenarios
7. Identify partnerships and coordinate with other institutions that provide psychosocial, legal and medical support
8. Lead informal and formal training for the survivors about FGM
9. Coordinate and update the rest of the team through weekly meetings
10. Identify needs and opportunities

Education + Experience

1. Diploma in Social Work
2. At least 2 years of proven experience dealing with GBV
3. Demonstrable experience in other shelters
4. Good contacts and knowledge of partners dealing with GBV
5. Knowledge in Gender Issues and women empowerment
6. Desirable knowledge about FGM and Early Forced Marriages
7. Sensitive, patient and flexible
8. Very proactive, creative and open minded
9. High levels of responsibility, transparency and commitment
10. Share the mission and vision of SGSG and have the same perception of gender equality
11. Fluent in English and Swahili, both oral and written
12. To be able to perform any other duty assigned
