Job Description

The Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) is a Professional Membership Association established by an Act of Parliament, the Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya, Cap. 534 of the Laws of Kenya. The core mandate of the Institute is to promote the practice of good governance in both the private and public sectors. ICS has over the years been involved in various initiatives including research, publication, capacity building and advisory services in the area of governance. It is against this background that ICS is seeking to enhance its internal capacity by recruiting three staff members as follows: Job Purpose: The Information Technology Assistant is responsible for providing support to the overall technology infrastructure including planning, implementation and management of the software applications, hardware infrastructure that support operations and web administration. Key Result Areas: Ensure the continuous delivery and operations of integrated systems Monitor network to ensure network functionality and availability to all system users. Configure and deploy new workstations, laptops and peripheral equipment. Install, troubleshoot, repair, update and maintain workstations and laptops Management of all matters relating to system security including data back-ups, password enforcements, anti-virus software, firewalls, etc Track license and support contracts to include notification of renewal timeframe to management. Participate in research and recommendation of improved infrastructure processes and technologies to include growth planning. Conduct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of opportunities and new initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Work with ISP and other outside suppliers to ensure dependable operations
  2. Work with suppliers to track service requests through to completion
  3. Create and maintain inventory, which may include hardware, software and peripheral equipment
  4. Maintain documentation of processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  5. Keep ICT equipment, storage area and work area clean and organised
  6. Overseeing the process of communication to the Institute members through the respective media i

  8. SMS, E-Mail and Social Media accounts
  9. Manage the content and functionality of the website Responsible for collating, uploading content across social channels Monitor Institute’s related online conversations and ensure responses are timely Support in graphic and digital content design and development
  10. Job Specification/Requirements Educational/Professional Qualification: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related Information Science from a reputable University Professional post graduate Diploma/certificate in related field will be an added advantage Experience: Minimum 1 year work experience in a reputable institution Others Professional knowledge of networking technologies Advanced web programming and design skills Experience with social media platforms Experience in graphic design Competencies: Experience in server management and related access management control Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, identify and isolate technical issues Willing to take ownership of issue analysis and resolution efforts and commit to 'doing what it takes' to resolve technical issues regardless of the effort or timeframe required
