Organisation Background:
Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.
INSO provides daily support to more than 1000 NGOs operating in 16 of the world’s most insecure countries.
INSO is registered in the Netherlands with its headquarters based in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice.
INSO East Africa
INSO East Africa is comprised of Somalia, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan. Since September 2022, the regional office has been supporting NGO forums outside these countries, on request, by providing regional analysis and briefings to forum members. INSO also provides ad hoc support on regional dynamics in the Horn of Africa.
Job Summary
As the Regional Analyst, you will be responsible for complementing and improving INSO's existing products and services by assessing broader regional and international trends, such as contextual developments or actor dynamics that have a specific impact on humanitarian security and access in the region. You will deliver a suite a of products and support the Country Directors and Regional Director during briefings and meetings. This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Requirements
- Exemplary command of English
- Graduate-level education in political science, history, or humanitarian studies, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Proven ability to provide operationally relevant analysis to a wide-ranging audience
- A minimum of three years of work experience in an analytical capacity preferably working on conflict or post-conflict contexts
- Experience working in NGOs, international organisations, consultancy, or journalism
- Acceptance and strong understanding of humanitarian principles
- Demonstrable understanding of humanitarian safety practices and their application
- Excellent networking, diplomatic, and representative communication skills

- Experience delivering a partner-focused advisory service
- Experience design and delivering products based on close partner engagement
- Existing regional experience and/or information networks
- Experience in insecure/conflict-affected environments
- Experience in staff capacity development and training
- Detailed understanding of INSO’s mandate & services

Terms & Conditions
12-month contract, €4,550 per month salary, 1,500 EUR monthly housing allowance, based in Nairobi Kenya, 4 calendar days annual leave per month, global medical coverage (excluding USA), $200,000 and AD&D coverage.
