Job Description

Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.


Responsibilities:

    o    This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a Senior Driver.

    Job Specifications
    The duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -

    o    Driving vehicles as authorized;

    o    Carrying out routine checks on the vehicles;

    o    Detecting and report malfunctioning of vehicles system;

    o    Maintain records of vehicles;

    o    Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle;

    o    Overseeing safety of the passengers and or goods therein;

    o    Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle;

    o    Ensuring adherence to or observations of traffic laws; and

    Reporting any incidents to police and/or the office immediately they occur.


Requirements:

    Person Specifications
    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

    o    Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade of D+ or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

    o    Valid driving license free from any current endorsements and valid for any of the classes of vehicles which the officer is required to drive;

    o    Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III;

    o    Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya police;

    o    Proficiency in computer application;
