Job Description

The Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (NaMATA) was established by an Executive Order through Legal Notice No.18 of 17TH February 2017 with the main mandate of overseeing the establishment of an integrated, efficient, effective and sustainable public transport system within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area (NMA). The NMA is made up of Kajiado, Kiambu, Machakos, Murang’a and Nairobi City counties. NaMATA's principal objective is to oversee the establishment of a safe, integrated, efficient, effective, and sustainable public transport system within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area. Mandate of the Organization The main mandate of NaMATA is to oversee the establishment of an integrated, efficient, effective and sustainable public transport system within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area (NMA). In particular, the Authority shall- Develop, formulate and implement strategies, plans and policies in relation to public transport. Coordinate the development, management and maintenance of MRTS with other government agencies and parties. Regulate and enter into agreements with MRTS Operators and Service Providers. Integration of all modes of transport, as well as transport and land use planning. Research and development to provide evidentially based MRTS network. Improve the environmental sustainability of the transport system in the Metropolitan Area.


Responsibilities:

    Specifically, duties and responsibilities entail:

    • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle;
    • Keeping up to date wo1rk tickets for vehicles;
    • Cleaning of the assigned motor vehicle;
    • Submitting regular reports on motor vehicle assigned;
    • Reporting any mechanical/accident problems; and

    Proper mechanical working condition of the vehicle.


Requirements:

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

    • At least served in the grade of Driver for at least four (4) years;
    • At least a mean grade D+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • The Occupational Trade Test II Certificate;
    • Valid Driving License free from any current endorsement(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive;
    • Certificate of Good Conduct (renewable after two (2) years));
    • First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John’s Ambulance or any other recognized institution; 
    • An accident-free driving period of three (3) years;
    • Proficiency in computer skills; and
    • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
